Kamilche Trading Post Holiday Food Drive
Kamilche Trading Post began collecting food donations at the beginning of November with a goal to provide holiday meals for community residents. Distribution items included all the fixings needed for a traditional holiday meal; sweet potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and more! Little Creek Casino Resort joined the effort by kindly donating turkeys, making each meal complete.
Our loyal customers and supportive community members generously contributed non-perishable food items, and monetary donations which transformed to over 2,350 pounds of food. Each monetary donation was represented by an individual turkey painting displayed on the store window. Each little turkey was hand crafted by the children at the Squaxin Child Development Center.
We are proud of the team at KTP for coordinating this important effort. We would like to recognize our partner supplier Harbor Wholesale Foods for their large donation of canned food and Little Creek Casino Resort for their generous turkey donation. Special acknowledgement goes to the Squaxin Island Elders and Museum for distribution assistance and the kids at the Squaxin Island Child Development Center for the added personal touch! Thank you everyone for making this a food drive a great success!
